I would call this a step back from what could be achieved, but a step in the right direction..... Can they make a system to radiate heat as light? sound? Electricity? Something that combines a piezoelectric, LED, and thermionic cell? I have always thought some type of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rijke_tube.com could potentially resonate inside a cavity, building a standing wave, from heat, and then use some type of piezoelectric tuning fork to bleed off the power through diodes, So heats converted into coherent sound, sound is transformed into deflection/ motion, and motion is transferred into electrons.... anyone have a better way to turn heat into electricity? _________________ Let not the bindings of society hold you back from improving it.... the masses follow where the bold explore. |

Each conversion loses energy along the way. So the more steps you have in a process, the less efficient it will be. Sometimes that is acceptable when the energy source is convenient such as the horribly inefficient internal combustion engine and hydrocarbon fuels vs. electric drive and their not so great batteries.
