Cell phone system...

Building an open source hardware and software cell phone system, that rellied on each phone as a node. This way the phones are the network, a system could be made that was 100% owned by its users! This system could also be used to allow remote areas access to communication. _________________ Let not the bindings of society hold you back from improving it.... the masses follow where the bold explore. |

That is pretty cool that it can "hijack" existing cell phone hardware/software. While it will work for point and high density handset environments (like cities), I doubt it is broadly extensible across a region or nation without fixed cell towers and infrastructure. Plus the cell companies will fight it if it becomes a threat.

I was thinking about making a rasberry pie style cell phone with multiple connection sockets to act as nodes and cell phones. The more phones, the faster the network.
