I believe that this could be developed into something much more the rice moving, ball throwing and pen spinning, but into an autonomous unit on the outside of a space station, or vessel that could clean, inspect or make small repairs.

It will be, those are just experimental development test tasks.

Pretty soon there will be a robot that can tie your shoes (or kill you) faster than you can blink.

A military robot? Maybe! Robot miners? Yes! When is the real question here.
