It seems that up to now Armadillo Aerospace was and is the leader - last year and this year they were the only competitor.
Next year at least one circumstance seems to be changing - instead of one competitor there will be three at least:
Masten Space Systems Armadillo Aerospace Micro-Space has a lander ready and simply didn't get the FAA permission this year while it looks as if Masten wasn't at the point this year yet where a FAA permission was required. Am I right so far? If yes then next year's XPC will see the first real Lunar Lander Challenge competition since it will be the first time three teams flying their landers in direct competition to each other. It seems likely that Armadillo aerospace is in front - but rpspeck is reporting in the General Microspace Forum and on the Micro-Space homepage sounds as if Micro-Space is close behind Amadillo Aerospace. So waht about it? Dipl.-Volkswirt (bdvb) Agustin (Political Economist) |
