www.marssociety.de is reporting about a not yet officially confirmed news by RIA Nowosti.

The Kliper has been given up. The new vehicle designed is a lifting body that has no parachutes and lands vertically by retrorockets.

It is designed to only go to LEOs, space stations there or - and this catched my attention - transit stations for lunar or martian missions. According to the article this would be a concept for future space fairing very similar to suggestions by Ernst Stuhlinger from von Braun's team.

The author says that this concept would be technoogicaly by far superior to the Constellation program with Ares and Orion and a contradiction to the leadership claim by the US and asks if the US might react by a new american program.

Regarding the drive of the new vehicle the informations limit the possibly used fuels to LOX/LH2 and Silanes.
