I have this problem since a week or 2 that when i visit spacefewlloship first time on a day that the page is loading, it allready has the name of the site in the ie bar but then it says page cannot be found. A simple hit on the F5 key reloads the site without trouble. Also have this problem on every pc on school/college where i log in.

Well, it has to be something that's on the forum and the frontpage. I assume everyone has this problem, no matter what browser or country. Try to disable the ads for a day or so, and e-mail your host to ask if they changed a setting or perhaps the server (even if you have dedicated/colocated).

I don't have the problem. I'm using Opera. When I can get to my main computer I'll try IE and Netscape. I once had a similar problem. I then logged out, deleted everything (Cache, Cookies, ...), closed the browser and reopened it.

About the ads.. it are javascripts, can only slow down.. never cause an error page, or they should redirect, but that shouldn't happen on the first time only.. about the server... I don't have a host... It's fully self managed.. and I can't see any mistake myself... so that's frustrating.. _________________ Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible. - Lord Kelvin, 1892 |

I can imagine how frustrating it must be. But if Klaus says he has no problem in Opera, but firefox and ie doe have this problem, it might be that opera ignores the problem and refreshes the site automatically. Dunno about that.
Any changes to anything lately? The weird thing is that i see the page is being loaded, the title shows in the ie-bar, but after that i get the error. Simply weird, never had it before. |

Ok, managed to get an IE.. It works fine. Firefox test will be possible in a few hours.
edit: IE 6.0 SP2 edit2: Finally checked the page with Firefox..No problems _________________ "The hardest hurdle to space isn't the technicalities and money. But rather, the courage and the will to do it." - Burt Rutan. |

I have IE7 and Windows XP home edition, SP2 and DO have the problem. In fact, when I clicked on the "post reply" button without having first logged on, I had to refresh again before getting to the login screen.
I have another XP home edition SP2 computer with IE6 and have the same problem there. |

Question for the guys with problems are you running extra 3rd party tool bars like the google bar or the Yahoo bar?(or anything like that)
I seem to remember my wife had trouble with some websites because she was using one of those things (against my advice btw =p) anyway it was redirecting her from some of the websites she wanted to see and for some reason occasionally it would do wacky stuff, like not load certain sites and need to be refreshed in order to get them to load. Just some thoughts ^^ |

I was running the Yahoo tool bar and now that I have removed it the home page seems to be loading first time without refreshing.
Thanks Akkman I think you might have solved the mystery. It appears to be something peculiar to IE as other browsers dont seem to have the problem. I am running IE7 on XP home edition SP2. _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |
