 Manned Flight? Posted on: Sun Dec 30, 2007 7:06 pmWhat are the proposals for manned flight on the Ascender? I couldn't find any info about whether it is manned or unmanned from the site.
The Ascender could beused to raise a Suborbital craft up to 42 km. If the desire is to reach the edge of space the craft would be deployed then fire rockets to reach 100 km. If only microgravity is wanted (which would be cheaper) the craft would simply drop away and glide back to Earth. JPA could sell rides on the craft and use the cash for, well, getting into space. The craft would be in two parts; the Ascender and the glider. The glider would drop off and glide back to the Earth. Then the Ascender descends, the glider's loaded back on, and it flys again. Simple. |
