Hello, jpowell,
the article "Pentagon Eyes High-Altitude Balloons for Emergency Communications System" ( www.space.com/businesstechnology/070718 ... lloon.html ) mentions several companies and vehicles - are they quite different from yours, do they simply miss two components or one or are they real competitors to JP Aerospace, Ascenders, and Dark Sky Stations? Mentioned are Code: Space Data Corp. of Chandler, Ariz. Combat SkySat and Near Space Corp. of Tillamook, Oregon vehicle, that offers users the ability to safely return payloads to troops on the ground. They are obviously working with the military and NASA and getting money. What about it? Dipl.-Volkswirt (bdvb) Augustin (Political Economist) |

They are competitors for some of the short term contract work. At the moment there is cross over in capabilities. However, they have shown no interest in the large scale crew vehicles.
We have two new airships that are focused on telecomm and remote sensing. They are not ATO vehicles, but work horses for development. They will directly compete with those firms. We are about 30 days away from the flight of the first and 60 days from the flight of the second. I want the first unveiled picture of the airship to be in flight. Although there are glimses of it all over the website if you know what to look for. The first one is just a little guy, only 15 feet long, but it will go over 70,000 feet and serve as a test bed for the larger one. At the moment we're working on the motor sensor arrays. All the electonic are common to both vehicles. JP www.jpaerospace.com |
