Hi,

We have EXPANDED our South Texas Spaceport, as we begin developing our Orbital launch capabilities we have opened up our three launch sites in Cameron County!

We also welcome SpaceX to the neighborhood, and look forward to their cooperation in developing a world class launch facility that complements ours and adds to wonderful south Texas!

Years ago in the 90s when experimenting with balloons for our students I wondered what it would be like to float around the world at 100,000'. When we watched Felix jump out of the Stratos from below (we couldn't see him but chased the balloon from liftoff to recovery) I couldn't help but wonder why jump out so soon and not stay inside and enjoy the ride for a few hours.

I've read that the number one thing people going into space like to do is look out the window at the earth below, even more than experiencing weightlessness. here are a couple of photos from a weather balloon at 100,000' by a student team I mentor.

To me there would be more of a market in 'space tourism' of flying at 80-100,000' near space for hours than a few minutes at most of weightlessness in a small vehicle for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Such flights could start in California and float eastward over varied terrain allowing passengers the view of a lifetime...maybe even be recovered near your facilities in Texas.

Such a vehicle should require less development time and money that the rocket vehicles being developed by XCOR or Virgin Galactic. And if you needed a 'volunteer tourist' to flight test the vehicle, I would be the first in line.

Hi,

HEY! Shhhhhh what you talkin bout Willis! That is the "basic plan", but we are farther down the road to the "Holy Grail": $10.000,00 for a week Space Adventure!

Well if you want to become a "Space Tourist" then go to our website and download the application and send it in.....but remember we have thousands already signed up!

Round the world flights are the goal!

Hi Terry, questions:

Will you be posting pictures/video of the HAB 3 launch?
Always looking for new ideas/designs for launch pads for the students, how/where can we get these, I've been to your website but can't find them.

Rick

Hi,

We will post pics and videos as soon as we post a HAB webpage, which we haven't even done that yet!

The plans for the launch pads will be on the URI (Universal Rockets) Equipment webpage. We have plans for wood, PVC, and metal, small, meduim, and large pads.
