hey guys, been away a while n come back a bit baffled!
Been loking over STC's info and i see they have a launch this weekend yeah? the "rubicon"? is this their x-prize attempt craft doing a practice flight at a low altitude? that baffled me? also the pic of the 2stage rocket, bloomin hell what a piccy! the clouds look so low! the sky is even black! this team never get a mention so is it unfashionable to talk about them? also just for the sake that i cant be bothered to do the research anyone got stats on all the rockets heights achieved by the the teams so far so we can see how high each team has gotten with test vehicles? will this weekends flight be bigger than nova? I liked this team so much I financed their replacement for Rubicon 1. They have the single lowest-cost means to reack 100km of all the others. They are too far behind to win, but it won't matter. Their finances are so limited that ordinary guys like you and me can buy a big piece of the company and make a real contribution.
On heights, there isn't much info to be had. Maybe because few teams have actually launched anything. What I've managed to scrape together, you can see here: http://www.spacefleet.org.uk/xpteams/comp-table.htm I looks like the ARCA team will not go as high as Starchaser's Nova. STC will launch to 6km at the end of this month. |

Achieved an altitude of ~180m on their last flight test "oops" (Out of Fuel Error. Redo From Start Scaled: Have about 25 people working on the project (there's a photo with the entire Scaled team somewhere). Max altitude 100,400m Canadian Arrow: 45 people, including 6 astronaut candidates. Max altitude 2000m, if you count the cabin drop test STC: Have launched 2 and 3-stage sounding rockets to >17,000m |
