They are getting rid of some quite usefull tooling arn't they.
Mill, trailer, lathe, welder, they must be definatly going into hibernation for a a while then!! Will cost them more to replace them, unless they decided they never really used them anyway. If I wasn't in NZ I'd prob purchase some of that aye! Would come in handy very much so! Iain |

I would imagine that having loaned lots of money from family and friends, they need to pay them back seeing as STC is not going anywhere fast - more of a firesale...sad but unfortunately the way it goes when startup companies don't work out.

Is this the national enquirer? Or the X Prize chat room?
I am not a fool for one minute to think that STC isn't planning something bigger. Every company goes through changes, doesn't mean they still can't progress, even if they aren't advertising it. |

Well, it looks like that's all she'll write. From the auction list it appears that they'll be giving away every scrap of useful hardware they have; it's my guess that STC has gone completely under and they're just too proud to admit it. You can't blame them, I suppose, but STC will probably never make it out of hibernation.
You have to expect this, just imagine how many of the original aircraft companies went belly-up before they could accomplish anything. Very few of the competitors will make it very far, STC is one of those. Can't blame them for trying, though. Dang, sometimes it really sucks to be right. _________________ "Yes, that series of words I just said made perfect sense!" -Professor Hubert Farnsworth |

Very interesting. I'd heard directly from a trustworthy source that STC was looking at 100% liquidation, though they did have some other irons still in the fire before completely closing up shop. Either way, we'll know if the Rubicon II goes up for sale in the near future.

DKH, glad to have you back!
Regarding STC's plans, It's clear that their Rubicon approach is gone to the wind (um, pun... intended?). Regardless, they seem to be back to the drawing board for their new focus, with funds that we can only speculate on. Either way, I doubt they'll be making headlines anytime soon. Now I'm going to go to DVP's site to see if FB has managed to blow up that big roll of plastic into a ballon yet. |

Well, I sure hope I'm wrong anyways. The recent STC release is heartening, but remember that it will be a while before they start to get back in the game, by their own admision. Hopefully they'll be able to start up whatever post-X-Prize plans they have as soon as possible. Good luck to everyone at STC!
