Why did the SS1 do 30 barrell rolls today?

Posted on: Fri Oct 01, 2004 1:28 am I would not call it pilot error but expanding the envelope. During the previous flight the roll was during the early part of the flight. This time it was at the top.
They should try some rolls and other maneuvers to expand the flight envelope. My speculation is that is what happened. Mike flew straight as an arrow during most of the flight and kept it going up during the roll with a great recovery. I see no problems, the design seems right on and the reaction control system works as does the feathering and every thing else. Excellent design and excellent pilot! _________________ Star I |
