They're not letting Da Vinci launch because of lack of insurance.
This might save some lives. _________________ Thank you very much Mister Roboto For helping escape when I needed most Thank you Thank you |

What an easy way out for the GoldenPalace Space Project. Now they can blame red tape instead of their lack of preparation.

No insurance.. AND no license from the canadian government... (and not tested their vehicle...).. all in the few latest weeks...
Personnally.. this is good news for Feeney his live.. cause I don't think he would survive his trip into space. (if he actually get's to 100km).. _________________ Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible. - Lord Kelvin, 1892 |

Is still the sort of thing that could bite the space industry in the butt later. Remember, obnoxious levels of legal liability have done in different areas of the aircraft industry many times over the past century.
So don't cheer it too loudly. |

Under www.xprizenews.com are several articles about The da Vinci projects reporting that the team is looking for an insurance since several weeks. So they know the requirement of the license really since a long time and didn't waste time.
According to these articles the reason for the current lack of the insurance is money and price. Dipl.-Volkswirt (bdvb) Augustin (Political Economist) |

This is why it would be handy to launch from somewhere like Tonga with an itty bitty Absolute Monarchy who can make stuff happen.
And there's not a lot of stuff to accidentally land on. _________________ What goes up better doggone well stay up! - Morgan Gravitronics, Company Slogan. |
