At last some news about Blue Origins future plans. Not much but something aside from their uninformative website. Blue origin has announced where it will build it facilities, see the attached links for more info

![]() I feel sad to see such "posts" on the forum, while I'm investing a lot of time each day to collect them. It would be diffrent if you had atleast reviewed it or had questions about it. Anyway.. ![]() http://www.xprizenews.org/index.php http://www.xprizenews.org/index2.php The News is already on it yesterday; http://www.xprizenews.org/index.php?p=715 http://www.xprizenews.org/index.php?p=714 _________________ Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible. - Lord Kelvin, 1892 |

Oops sorry
![]() I guess I was so surprised that anything was published about Blue Origin that contained confirmed facts I was panicked into a post. ![]() I did look at Blue Origin's Website to see if there was anymore information but it remains the same as ever, pretty barren. From the articles it sounds like they still have a long way to go before they test any hardware, I wonder whether they have actually produced anything yet? They must have been working on something, I'm guessing that they havent progressed much beyond the drawing board at this stage if they can afford to wait for these facilities to be built. _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |

As far as I know up to now Blue Origin is working on suborbital vehicles.
Do you consider them to build a spaceport or center fit for ASP launches into the orbit. Dipl.-Volkswirt (bdvb) Augustin (Political Economist) |

The facilities mentioned include rocket test stands and propellant storage. They will need these things to test a sub-orbital vehicle as well. I have heard no mention of whether their Seattle base has any such facilities, but if they did I wouldn't have thought that they would spread themselves over 2 sites they would have just expanded those.
Without somewhere to test rocket motors their vehicle, sub-orbital or otherwise, wont be getting very far. Perhaps they are going to contract someone (like Scaled did) to make and test their engines for them though, so who knows? Without any information its difficult to make any sort of speculation. _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |

Perhaps they are going to contract someone (like Scaled did) to make and test their engines for them though, so who knows? They seem to want to develop their own engine. On their homepage they say: Quote: Our initial research efforts are focused on reusable liquid propulsion systems, low cost operations, life support, abort systems and human factors. And their currently looking for a fourth propulsion engineer, so this also indicates they want to develop their own engine. I believe their facility in Seattle is just a warehouse, so they have to go somewhere else to test engines and their vehicle. And Texas probably has a lor more open space than the region of Seatlle. So when they crash their vehicle it has less chance of hitting something. And its not that far from White Sands and the place where the X-prize cup is going to take place, so if they can't launch from Texas they won't have to go very far to find another lauch site. |
