And there are just as many, if not more people who are techies and religious at the same time. In fact, as has been pointed out, like all religious arguments, ideas about whether something is a religion or not are so time consuming and there are many different theories. I said agnostic about the chinese firstly because of issues about communism and also the fact that It is difficult to class Budhism as a religion as such, in many ways it is a philosophy. personally, I think Autochton got it exactly right with his last sentence. Or more likely people will see that we areour brains not a soul, thereofore they wont belive in ferry tale about mgic men building the universe in seven days or everyoe on a big boat sailing the world?

I was not knocking techies-I ws just saying that space will attract people who think that space will lead to "the next stage in the evolution of life."

Perhaps religion will be galvanised by space exploration? In those big remote empty spaces, people might find a need to believe in something. All the scientific discoveries of the last thousand years haven't stopped people from thinking it was all made by a big invisible man in the sky, which is somewhat worrying in a way...
