With all the space talk seeming increasing at the moment with news of nasa actually doing something! what will the big events of 2004 be?

i think:

Britain (starchaser) 4th country to space
Canada (arrow) 5th country to space
Shuttles start flights again maybe 2
space station upgrades.
opportunity lands on mars.
water or no water question answered.

any views????

Don't forget, Scaled will win the X-prize, and be the first privately financed company to reach the edge of space.. :D

What is particularly exciting is that when Britain (Starchaser) or Canada (Arrow or Da Vinci) puts a man into space they will will be the first of several countries to do so first privately versus by a government program.

In any case, costs will be driven down by these pioneering entreprenuers from many countries!

Fresh off of Xcors' web site, an update on pending legislation:

http://www.xcor.com/news-house-CSLA.html

I hope this passes soon enough to allow experimental launch permits before the end of the contest.

Everyone!

Call your congressman to support H.R. 3752, the Commercial Space Launch Amendments Act of 2004. :D

It is getting less and less likely that the shuttle will fly this year. Therefore you can discount any major station upgrades.

I would say the spirit/opps landings and the XCup!
