I think this has great potential ![]() http://www.theaircar.com/models.html http://www.theaircar.com/howitworks.html I hope I'll be able to buy one soon ![]() _________________ Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible. - Lord Kelvin, 1892 |

My favorite variant of this is “liquefied gas propulsion”, for both robots and vehicles. In this, high density liquid Nitrogen or Carbon Dioxide (produced from EXISTING CO2 waste streams) is used. This “fuel” is stored at high density, yet low pressure. Pumping it into an evaporator produces the high pressure gas desired for the air motors. The real energy source is ENVIRONMENTAL HEAT captured in the radiator like evaporator. Air conditioning of course is trivial (an additional energy source) and the system does in fact reduce the ambient temperatures in the city. This is not of course an energy source – just another energy storage and transport system (as is the "Hydrogen Economy"). But it radically reduces the weight and hazard of the pressurized air storage tanks. Pumping gallons (or thousands of gallons for a rocket launch) of cryogenic liquids into the vehicle to extend range is no big deal. Since the power is limited by the heat exchange evaporator, a small pressurized tank to handle acceleration is desirable.
It is true that the system does not work as well in extreme cold (without a combustion heater). But few places get so cold that it is hard to boil liquid Nitrogen! |

I love it. I can just hook it up to my mouth for perpetual motion.

Gotta hand it to you there, publi... that might be one way to actually subvert the Laws of Thermodynamics

Ummm..... I think I'll leave that one alone.
