I was wondering, I know it takes about 3 days for an orbiter to launch from earth and dock with the ISS. But from the moment the ISS is visible, within eyesight, how long is it to dock with the station?

It depends on the closing distance once orbits are matched. The rendezvousing craft "chases" the ISS in the same but a lower orbit and then comes "up" to slow down and come within close range with only a little different velocity because of the rules of orbital dynamics, and... you want to be careful
As to the original questions, IIRC it usually takes about 8 hrs. to close the distance between naked eye visible (~20 nm) and when final docking or capture procedures start. |

Great! Thats what I needed! Thank you! _________________ Gygantar "What matters is not the destination, but the Odyssey!" |
