Guys
Can someone settle an argument that I am in with someone, this is physics based! This might make no sense! So here goes hahaha If you are on a one carriage train and you jump up, you dont go backwards, you land on the same spot that you jumped from on the train right? You have however moved say 10 metres as the train has been moving fast. Now if the train carriage had no back, just a tube with a front, again you jump in the air. Would you now land in the same place on the train or would the train shoot forward with you landing behind the train? Weird one eh! hahahaha Thanks guys Rob Its just the same the one that would change it was if there was no front and no back the wind would push you along backwards a bit. edited to add relatively speaking as you would have still moved forward with the train until you fell out the back after lots of jumps _________________ Someone has to tilt at windmills. So that we know what to do when the real giants come!!!! |

So if you were say 3 feet from the back of the open backed train, you would prob jump and the train would carry on, leaving you to fall out the back?

I am saying in your original scenario you would move forward just the same there might be a slightly lower pressure in the train than outside but if it was moving at constant speed you it would be just the same as a closed vehicle you would move forward with the train this is in the Newtonian perfect world theory. In the real world If you are very close to the back when you made the jump you might be caught in a bit of turbulence with an eddy catching you and sucking you off this is why you should not make sucker bets especially if some other guy is holding your wallet on a moving train. I added the open at both ends to show a way that you could fall off the back in a perfect Newtonian world. _________________ Someone has to tilt at windmills.
