STS-51F flew some carbonated drinks as an experiment.

No, it'd need to be bigger than a ping-pong ball. You've got to test out a few heating and isolation apparati (ooh, ooh, that's a good word!), along with the fact that you've got to practically keep it inside an airlock in case the isolation system fails.
