What happened to the MoonROx Challenge?

What happened to the MoonROx Challenge? Did someone win the prize oR did the prize expire with no winner?

I don't understand why these prizes expire so quickly? Why isn't the prize offered for at least five years or something?

That was about five years. It was announced May 19 2005.
Government spending is different than normal spending. In government spending, saying you need a million dollars and then not spending it is very bad, it means you asked for more than you needed and you'll get much less than you asked for next time. Saying that you may or may not spend a million dollars over the next five years is really unheard of. Getting allocated more money for new challenges without having given away or expired old money is quite difficult. |

The government could do what the X-prize foundation did and buy insurance, they insure other things why not the risk of someone achieving one of their challenges? That way they would be definately spending the money in year every year with the insurers and it would probably be cheaper for them to do as the premiums may well be less than the prize. _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |
